We Are Scientists tinker with North American tour
The band--which will see its debut full-length release for Virgin, "With Love and Squalor," hit stores Jan. 10--has scheduled a slate of shows for the middle of January, including "our first breach of the Canadian border," beginning with a Jan. 12 show at New York's Bowery Ballroom.
We Are Scientists' overseas itinerary can be found in full at the band's website. The European stint includes headlining shows in the UK as well as March dates in support of Kaiser Chiefs.
"With Love and Squalor" was recorded last spring with producer Ariel Rechtshaid (Foreign Born, Dirty Little Secret) and follows three self-released EPs issued by the band before its major label signing.
An EP for Virgin, "Nobody Moves Nobody Gets Hurt" (and featuring the single of the same name,) is out now. The multimedia set includes the single, two b-sides, and the video for the title track.
The band recently recorded a video for the song "It's a Hit" from its debut disc, which can be previewed at the band's website.
Comprised of guitarist/vocalist Keith Murray, bassist Chris Cain and drummer Michael Tapper, We Are Scientists has drawn enthusiastic reviews for its live shows over the last few years, especially from the British press. "Mixing Bloc Party drum patterns, Franz Ferdinand bass lines and Killers melodies with their own weird, wired tangents, they have got all the elements to steal the dancefloor from under the feet of their contemporaries," the UK's Guardian wrote in a recent review of the band's debut album.
