Jourgensen's Ministry, Revolting Cocks book more shows
Industrial-rock icon Al Jourgensen pulls double duty later this year as he helms both Ministry and Revolting Cocks during a spring/summer tour that continues to grow.
Jourgensen apparently likes to plan ahead, as word of the tour and its initial itinerary first surfaced last August. Since then, a new stretch of July shows has been added to the run, as has a May 5 tour launch in Jourgensen's home state of Texas, and May and June stops in Albuquerque, Detroit and Worcester, MA. Details are included below.
Dubbed "MasterBaTour 2006," the trek will support new albums from both bands. Ministry is eyeing an April 13 release for its next set, "Rio Grande Blood," while "Cocked and Loaded," Revolting Cocks' first new album in more than a decade, is due out March 7.
Both albums will surface on Jourgensen's recently launched record label, 13th Planet Records, an imprint of Megaforce Records. Jourgensen made the move to his own label after completing his contractual obligations to Sanctuary Records with the release of last year's "Rantology," a collection that marks Ministry's 25th anniversary. The disc houses new mixes of a number of previously released songs, live cuts and the new song "The Great Satan."
Last month, "The Great Satan" was nominated for a Grammy award in the Best Metal Performance category. Jourgensen included the cut on "Rantology" as a preview of the forthcoming "Rio Grande Blood," on which the track will also appear.
"It's where the upcoming record is going," Jourgensen said of "The Great Satan" in a press release. "Fast and furious. So far, the songs that we have for it are three-thousand miles an hour. And it will be just as political as the last one.
RevCo's "Cocked and Loaded" will feature contributions from Jello Biafra (Dead Kennedys), Gibby Haynes (Butthole Surfers), Rick Neilsen and Robin Zander (Cheap Trick), Billy Gibbons (ZZ Top), Stevie Banch (Spyder Baby) and Phildo Owen (Skatenigs).
"I've been waiting for the right moment to bring back the Revolting Cocks in full force and had the fortune of working with a dream team of sorts on 'Cocked and Loaded,'" Jourgensen said. "We had a blast. It's the soundtrack to your inner juvenile delinquent."
