Stars to fete Stevie Wonder at televised fundraiser

Lou Rawls , Fantasia Barrino , Maroon 5 and India.Arie are among the artists scheduled to pay tribute to Stevie Wonder 's musical career and longtime support of the United Negro College Fund during UNCF's annual televised fundraiser.

The four-hour tribute will be taped at the Kodak Theater in Los Angeles, and will air Jan. 7 in more than 65 U.S. TV markets during UNCF's "An Evening of Stars" fundraiser.

Wonder has appeared on "An Evening of Stars" a dozen times during the event's 26-year history.

"Stevie Wonder has been at the forefront of UNCF's efforts to raise money for deserving students through 'An Evening of Stars,' and we are proud that he is this year's honoree," said Dr. Michael Lomax, UNCF's president and CEO. "Stevie has contributed a great deal to the music industry, so this tribute is much deserved and highly anticipated."

Among the other celebrities scheduled to appear are Toni Braxton, Vivica A. Fox, Terrence Howard, Doug E. Fresh, D.L. Hughley, Regina King, Tyler Perry, Jeremy Piven, John Salley, Robert Townsend and the first two recipients of the UNCF Award of Excellence: Rawls--who is currently battling lung cancer--and Quincy Jones.
