Sevendust to launch 'Next' headlining tour in January
Hard-rock quintet Sevendust is poised to thrash audiences during a headlining tour that kicks off next month and supports the group's latest album, "Next."
The trek gets underway in mid-January, and dates so far stretch into mid-February. Also on tap is a New Year's Eve performance at the House of Blues in Orlando, FL. Details are shown below.
Joining Sevendust on the road during January and February will be Nonpoint, Socialburn, Wicked Wisdom and ONE.
Meanwhile, Sevendust wraps up its stint on the Mudvayne-led "Masters of Horror" tour Tuesday (12/20) in Oklahoma City, OK.
Released in October, "Next" is Sevendust's first album for indie label Winedark, with whom the group signed after parting with TVT Records. The disc is also the group's first with guitarist Sonny Mayo--formerly of Snot and Amen--who replaced original guitarist Clint Lowery earlier this year.
Lowery jumped ship a year ago due to "personal issues," according to an announcement issued at the time. He has since resurfaced with rock band Dark New Day.
"We have been on a roller coaster ride since May of 2004," drummer Morgan Rose said in a press release. "We replaced our management company with MG Management, dug out of financial despair, watched a record deal dissolve, and replaced a guitarist all in the course of six months. This left us in the position to do things one way, our way."
Sevendust recorded and self-produced "Next" before seeking a new record deal, a dynamic that gave the group newfound freedom, according to Rose.
"For the first time since very early in our careers, we had no outside interference, no one telling us how to sound, no one telling us what to look like," he said. "The end result is truly gratifying."
"Next" features the cuts "Ugly" and "Pieces," both of which are streaming at Sevendust's website.
