Howard Stern recruits Staind for final FM broadcast

Staind will hit the stage in New York City on Friday (12/16) for an outdoor concert that will help mark radio talk-show host Howard Stern's final broadcast on terrestrial radio.

The show is scheduled to take place on 56th Street in Manhattan outside the studios of radio station K-Rock (WXRK), where Stern has worked for about 20 years. Staind's performance will be part of a larger send-off rally for Stern during which a number of Stern-show regulars are expected to make remarks from the stage, including Stern himself.

Stern and his crew are moving from terrestrial radio to Sirius Satellite radio, where they'll begin broadcasting on Jan. 9.

During Friday's (12/16) event, Staind is expected to perform "This Is Beetle," a.k.a. "The Beetlejuice Song," a cover of a novelty song written and originally recorded by frequent Stern-show guest Lester Green (a.k.a. Beetlejuice) and Stern-show staffer Richard Cristy.

That same night, Staind will give a headlining performance at New York City's Roseland Ballroom, one of the last few dates on its "Fall Brawl" cross-country tour, which also features fellow rockers P.O.D., Taproot and Flyleaf.

Following the conclusion of the "Fall Brawl Tour," Staind frontman Aaron Lewis will tackle a series of solo acoustic shows at select casinos around the country. Details are included in the itinerary below.

Staind is backing its latest album, "Chapter V," which surfaced in August and debuted at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 chart, making it the band's third consecutive album to do so. The set has spawned the hit singles "Right Here" and "Falling."

The group recently issued a limited-edition version of "Chapter V" that features the original album, plus five bonus tracks, including an acoustic version of the group's previously released hit "It's Been a While" and the aforementioned "This Is Beetle" track. Packaged with the set is a 36-page book featuring the lyrics to all Staind songs, a photo history of the band and liner notes, as well as a bonus DVD that features a full band documentary, plus extras including the "Right Here" video, two songs filmed live, bonus interviews and outtakes.
