Briefly: Black Crowes, Neil Young, SXSW, Prince
The Black Crowes recently entered the studio with producer George Drakoulias to record a cover of the novelty holiday song "Back Door Santa," marking the group's first studio work since 2001's "Lions" album.
Instead of selling the track commercially, the band plans to make it available via its website as a free download.
Neil Young will be the keynote speaker at this year's South by Southwest (SXSW) Music Conference in Austin, TX, set for March 15-19.
Billboard.com reports that Prince will issue his next album, "3121," via a one-off deal with Universal. A video for the album's first single, "Te Amo Corazon" (directed by actress Salma Hayek and starring actress Mia Maestro), will be available to members of Prince's NPG Music Club on Tuesday (12/13).
