Briefly: Madonna, Korn, The Darkness, Eagles

Madonna scores her sixth No. 1 album and third-consecutive No. 1 debut on the U.S. album chart this week with her latest set, "Confessions on a Dance Floor."

The disc, which features the hit single "Hung Up," moved about 350,000 copies during its first week out, enough to top the forthcoming Billboard 200 chart, according to Billboard.

"American Idol" winner Carrie Underwood trails close behind with her debut set, "Some Hearts," which enters The Billboard 200 at No. 2, and tops Billboard's Country Chart.

The two new entries push Kenny Chesney's "The Road and the Radio"--which last week debuted at No. 1--down two spots to No. 3.

The updated version of Mariah Carey's "The Emancipation of Mimi" pushes that title--which, in its original form, sat at No. 15 on Billboard's previous Top 200 album chart--up to No. 4, while the hits compilation "NOW! That's What I Call Music Vol. 20" dips from No. 3 to No. 5.

When rockers Korn fly from London to New York next week for their Nov. 29 pre-album-release performance at New York City's Hammerstein Ballroom, they'll bring along eight U.S. soldiers who have served in either Afghanistan or Iraq and are currently on leave in Frankfurt, Germany and Venice, Italy.

"We already have the private plane arranged and we were thinking, 'Who else can we bring with us to New York City besides the contest winners?'" the group said in a statement. "We just figured, 'Who really needs to get away and spend a few days in New York City?' So we thought it'd be cool if we were joined by some soldiers on the plane and bring them back to U.S. soil for a real taste of home and some U.S. rock and roll right after Thanksgiving. We're absolutely honored to do this."

Korn's new album, "See You on the Other Side," lands in stores Dec. 6.

The Eagles ' most recent 12 Los Angeles-area concerts (six at L.A.'s Staples Center and six at Anaheim's Arrowhead Pond) grossed a combined total of $17,480,823.75, according to the group's publicist. Ticket prices for the shows ranged from $25 to $175.
