Kristin Hersh hits solo road again
Throwing Muses singer/guitarist Kristin Hersh will temporarily shed herself of her various band-related projects and pick up the trail of her solo career with a number of upcoming shows over the next couple of months.
Hersh, whose most recent solo album was 2003's "The Grotto," will play two nights of Muses material in London starting Nov. 21, then make an appearance Nov. 29 in Alexandria, VA, opening for Bob Mould.
After spending several years in limbo, Throwing Muses returned in 2003 with a self-titled reunion album. Hersh then formed 50 Foot Wave as a side project distinct from Throwing Muses, although the two bands currently share some of their members.
50 Foot Wave's debut album, "Golden Ocean," was released in March.
According to her website, Hersh is currently working on her seventh solo album in Rhode Island with studio engineer Steve Rizzo, who has worked on many of Hersh's projects.
"I have yet to determine the character of this record," Hersh said in a blog posting to the website. "The first day in the studio is a day of extremes: nerves, boredom, excitement, confusion … always a bit of 'how do we do this again?' Soon the songs'll take over and start bossing us around. That’s when it gets good."
