KISS to release live DVD in December
KISS fans have something new to add to their Christmas wishlists, as the group has announced plans to release a two-disc concert DVD on Dec. 13.
Titled "KISS Rock the Nation Live!" the upcoming release was shot during the band's 2004 "Rock the Nation" tour, and features live performances of 20 tracks, including staples such as "Rock and Roll All Nite," "Detroit Rock City" and "Love Gun," as well as "Makin' Love," "Christine Sixteen," "She," "Tears Are Falling," "Got to Choose," "Love Her All I Can," "I Want You" and "Parasite," none of which have appeared on any of KISS's previous concert films, according to a press release.
The concert portion of the DVD will include an interactive feature, dubbed "Select-A-KISS," that will allow viewers to access separate channels for each of the four band members. Using this feature, fans can either watch the main concert program, or watch only the band member of their choosing.
In addition to the live performances, "Rock the Nation Live!" includes behind-the-scenes footage of the group at soundchecks, photo sessions and in the dressing room.
KISS's 2004 "Rock the Nation" tour featured founding members Gene Simmons (vocals/bass) and Paul Stanley (vocals/guitar), along with drummer Eric Singer and guitarist Tommy Thayer. Singer first played with the group during the band's '90s-era non-makeup days, and returned to the fold after original drummer Peter Criss split with the group for a second time early last year. Thayer has been on board since original guitarist Ace Frehley left the group in 2001, following what KISS had billed at the time as its farewell tour.
Singer and Thayer perform wearing the makeup and costumes made famous by Criss and Frehley, respectively.
KISS's future plans are unknown at this time. Earlier this year, Stanley underwent hip-replacement surgery, which reportedly did not go well and required a second operation.
