INXS posts sellouts, books more U.S. shows

INXS , which last month unveiled plans for its first tour with new singer J.D. Fortune at the helm, have added a number of dates to the run after racking up numerous sellouts.

New to the group's schedule, which kicks off in mid-January, are late-February visits to a half-dozen cities throughout the South, as well as a second show at New York City's Avery Fisher Hall. Tickets for all of the newly added dates will hit the box office on Friday (11/11) or Saturday (11/12). Details are included in the itinerary below.

Organizers added the new dates after the band posted sellouts in 14 cities, including Seattle, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia and Washington, DC, according to a press release.

INXS hits the road Jan. 18 to back its forthcoming album, "Switch," which is due in stores Nov. 29. The set features the single "Pretty Vegas," a cut that entered Billboard's Hot 100 chart at No. 37, making it the highest-charting single debut of the band's career, according to a press release. A music video for the cut is currently airing on VH1.

In September, Fortune, a Canadian native, was crowned as INXS's new frontman after beating out a number of competitors on the reality-TV series "Rock Star: INXS." Founding INXS frontman Michael Hutchence died of an apparent suicide in 1997.

"Rock Star: INXS" runner-up Marty Casey and his band the Lovehammers will open all of INXS's currently confirmed North American shows.
