Andrea Bocelli sings in the holidays
Classical/pop singer Andrea Bocelli heads to the U.S. later this month for a brief holiday tour that will touch down at arenas in eight cities.
Dubbed "The Royal Christmas Tour," the run launches Nov. 30 in Uniondale, NY, and will make stops in Washington, DC; New York City; Boston; East Rutherford, NJ; Chicago; Phoenix; and Fresno, CA, by mid-December. Details are shown below.
Joining Bocelli for the production will be fellow vocalist Denyce Graves, the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra and the Westminster Concert Choir, as well as principal and solo dancers from London's Royal Ballet, Winnipeg's Royal Ballet, Russia's Bolshoi Ballet, Ukraine Kyiv Ballet and the Shumka Dancers.
Tucked amidst the holiday performances is a Dec. 9-10 stand at the Lake Las Vegas Resort in Henderson, NV. Those two shows--which will not be holiday-themed, and are instead billed as Bocelli's "first full contemporary concert[s]," according to a press release--will be filmed for use in a March 2006 episode of PBS's "Great Performances" series.
During the taping, Bocelli will perform music from a new album due out in February that will feature standards including "Autumn Leaves" and "It's Impossible," and several guest artists are expected to join him on stage.
The singer will perform on the resort's floating stage, which sits on its signature 320-acre lake. More information is available at the venue's website.
