Sheryl Crow to kick off Salvation Army campaign in Dallas

Singer/songwriter Sheryl Crow will give a live performance during the Dallas Cowboys' annual Thanksgiving Day football game to kick off the Salvation Army's Red Kettle Christmas Campaign.

The halftime performance during a Nov. 24 NFL game that pits the Cowboys against the Denver Broncos will be televised live nationally by CBS.

Past Cowboys' halftime performers on Thanksgiving have included Destiny's Child, Toby Keith, LeAnn Rimes, Jessica Simpson, Billy Gilman, Clint Black and Reba McEntire. In addition to their halftime performances, the entertainers also have been available for media and other appearances on behalf of the Red Kettle campaign.

"I look forward to continuing the wonderful tradition established between The Salvation Army and the Dallas Cowboys," Crow said in a press release. "Both organizations help the needy in countless ways, and together, we can raise funds to offer hope to our neighbors in need during the Christmas season and year round."

The Red Kettle campaign began in San Francisco in 1891. According to the Salvation Army, donors deposited more than $100 million in change and bills into the organization's familiar kettles during the 2004 holiday season.

Crow just wrapped up a two-month U.S. tour to promote her new album, "Wildflower," which hit stores Sept. 27 and debuted at No. 2 on The Billboard 200 album chart.
