Bonnie Raitt expands tour plans, more to come

Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Bonnie Raitt is taking a brief respite from her massive North American theater tour, but she'll be back on the road next week to continue the still-growing trek.

The latest additions to Raitt's itinerary are stops in Houston; San Antonio; Tunica, MS; Ft. Myers, FL; Asheville, NC; Charlotte, NC; Bossier City, LA; and Marksville, LA.

Raitt returns to the stage Nov. 2 in Milwaukee to begin a stretch of roadwork that runs through mid-December, then hops back on the tour bus in February for more North American shows that run through mid-March. Details are included in the itinerary below.

The nine-time Grammy winner opens a European tour in April, and is considering keeping her show on the road until the spring of 2007, according to Capitol Records.

Fans can also get their fix of Raitt via several upcoming television appearances. On Nov. 18, VH1 Classic premieres a "Decades Rock Live" episode that features Raitt and special guests Norah Jones, Ben Harper, Keb' Mo' and Alison Krauss. On. Nov. 20, "CBS Sunday Morning" is scheduled to air a segment about Raitt that features footage shot at her recent Portland, ME, and Boston appearances. She'll also perform Nov. 29 on CBS-TV's "The Late Show with David Letterman.

Raitt is backing her latest album, "Souls Alike," which hit stores in September. The set is her 18th album overall, and the first she produced herself.

Raitt's backing band for the tour includes bassist Hutch Hutchinson, who has been with Raitt for over 20 years; drummer Ricky Fataar (Beach Boys, The Rutles), who's been playing with her on and off since 1982; guitarist/keyboardist George Marinelli (Bruce Hornsby and the Range), who's been playing with her on and off since 1993; and keyboardist Jon Cleary (Eric Clapton, Taj Mahal), whose New Orleans-based band The Absolute Monster Gentlemen has previously supported Raitt on tour.
