Elton John makes up missed dates, sets Las Vegas shows

Elton John will spend much of November touring the South and Midwest to make up five shows he postponed in March due to illness, and will make stops in a few other markets along the way.

Rescheduled shows are set for Richmond, VA; Winston-Salem, NC; Columbia, SC; Columbus, OH; and Indianapolis. Additional November concerts have been scheduled for Memphis, TN; Cincinnati, OH; and Charlotte, NC. Details are in the itinerary below.

Meanwhile, John has rolled out his initial 2006 schedule for "The Red Piano," his Las Vegas production. About 25 shows so far are on the schedule at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, and tickets for all are on sale now.

John first signed an agreement with Caesars in 2003 that called for 75 shows over three years starting in February of 2004, but the production proved to be a hot seller, prompting the resort to book John for more than the initially planned 25 shows per year. The accelerated schedule left John's original 75-show commitment fulfilled in less than 18 months.

In June, the singer/pianist signed a new agreement that calls for an additional 150 shows through 2008, according to Caesars.

The Colosseum is a 4,100-seat theater originally designed to host Celine Dion's production, "… A New Day." "The Red Piano," which plays on nights when Dion is off, was directed and designed by David LaChappelle.

Backing John on stage during the Las Vegas performances are musical director/guitarist Davey Johnstone, keyboardist Guy Babylon, bassist Bob Birch, percussionist John Mahon and drummer Nigel Olsson.
