Jason Mraz stacks up more fall concerts
Jason Mraz has rolled out more dates for an in-progress headlining tour that now stretches into December.
In addition to the tour's first batch of December dates--which largely focus on the Southeast--Mraz has also filled some November blanks with stops in Idaho and Texas. The tour is currently slated to wrap up with a Dec. 13 gig in Washington, DC, one of three stops on the tour--along with Nov. 5 in Los Angeles and Nov. 7 in San Francisco--that is billed as an acoustic performance.
As previously reported, Mraz's plans also include opening sets at five November Rolling Stones concerts in the West. Details are shown below.
Mraz is backing his July release, "Mr. A-Z," which he recorded with producer Steve Lillywhite (U2, The Rolling Stones) at Allaire Studios near Woodstock, NY, as well as at his home studio in San Diego.
"Steve is so unconventional in his method of recording and producing," Mraz said of Lillywhite in a statement. "He goes into each album he produces with no preconceptions whatsoever. In a sense, he became a member of the band, adding an experienced ear and voice to our thought processes. He knows how to bring the best out of the players and capture a solid live take which becomes the belly of the track.
"Over the course of recording 'MR. A-Z,' Steve taught me many things that will resonate throughout my recording career, but there was one particular thing that makes a lot of sense in this current scenario. 'An artist should never have to explain what the songs are about,' he said. 'The listener will determine that for themselves.'"
"Mr. A-Z" debuted at No. 5 on The Billboard 200 chart, thanks in part to its hit single, "Wordplay." Mraz's website houses a streaming version of the song's music video, as well as a live performance of the cut filmed in Japan.
