Paul McCartney and his current tour co-sponsor Fidelity Investments have announced the formation of the Music Lives Foundation, a charity chartered to raise awareness and money for school music-education programs.
Fidelity has contributed about $1 million in seed money to the foundation, which plans to provide direct support to public elementary school music programs and work with existing charities that share similar goals.
More information is available at the Music Lives website.
Bruce Springsteen and his wife Patti Scialfa joined U2 on stage during the group's Monday night (10/17) encore at Philadelphia's Wachovia Center for a rendition of the Curtis Mayfield classic "People Get Ready."
Jack White, of the popular rock duo The White Stripes , has joined with fellow Detroit musician Brendan Benson to form a new two-piece band dubbed The Raconteurs, according to The Detroit News. White and Benson recorded an album in June, and it's likely to hit stores in early 2006.
