Collective Soul lines up more U.S. shows

Following their current run through Canada, rockers Collective Soul will return to the states for a round of late-fall tour dates.

The group, which wraps up its Canadian outing Monday (10/17), will launch its latest batch of U.S. shows with an Oct. 22 stop in Las Vegas, and subsequent dates stretch into late November. Details are shown below.

The Georgia-based band has also nailed down its New Year's Eve plans by booking a show at Atlanta's Underground.

Last month, a Collective Soul performance in New York City's Times Square was cut short when police determined that the crowd had become too large. The outdoor concert attracted more than 10,000 people, according to the group's publicist, who said that the group only made it through three songs before pulling the plug "under threat of arrests to the band and crew."

Collective Soul continues to back last year's "Youth," its first new studio set since 2000's "Blender." The new album features the cuts "Counting the Days," "Better Now" and latest single "How Do You Love," the recently released video for which is streaming at the band's website.

"Youth" is Collective Soul's inaugural release on its own label, El Music Group. In May, the band issued "From the Ground Up," an eight-song collection that features acoustic renditions of seven of the group's previously released numbers, as well as a new acoustic track titled "Youth," which did not appear on the album of the same title.

Collective Soul, which formed in 1992, made a name for itself with a batch of '90s-era hits, including "December," "Shine," "The World I Know," "Gel," "Blame" and "Precious Declaration." The band has sold more than 10 million albums worldwide, according to its publicist.
