Parrotheads to provide relief
The multi-talented Jimmy Buffett will unite his faithful flock of Parrothead fans for an Oct. 20 hurricane relief benefit in San Francisco.
Buffett, an artist who routinely packs 20,000-capacity amphitheaters around the country each summer, will be performing in the comparatively intimate confines of San Francisco's most famous venue, the Fillmore.
The chance to see Buffett and his group, the Coral Reefer Band, play such salty favorites as "Fins," "Volcano" and, of course, "Margaritaville" in a roughly 1,000-capacity venue will surely prove to be a very popular selling point for his legion of fans.
The catch is that tickets run $200 (plus service charges). That's not a bad catch, given that all the proceeds will benefit Gulf Coast Hurricane Relief. Approximately $200,000 is expected to be raised at this concert.
Tickets for the benefit go on sale Monday (10/17) at 10 a.m. PT on Oct. 17 and will be only available through www.ticketmaster.com. Tickets will not be available through the Fillmore box office, charge-by-phone or Ticketmaster outlets. (Ticketmaster is liveDaily's parent company.)
There is a two-ticket limit per customer. In order to help prevent scalping of tickets, this concert is a will-call-only event. According to promoters, each customer will need to bring their government-issued photo ID and the credit card used to purchase the tickets to the box office window on the day of the show to receive the tickets. Once the ticket order is redeemed, the customer must directly enter The Fillmore.
In other Buffett-related news, the performer recently participated in the "From the Big Apple to the Big Easy" hurricane relief benefits, which also featured the likes of Trey Anastasio, Elton John, Dave Matthews and John Fogerty.
Later this month, the singer/songwriter/guitarist will perform more dates on his A Salty Piece of Land Tour, which is named after the best-selling author's most recent novel.
