Briefly: U2, Trey Anastasio, Las Vegas New Year's Eve, Drywall
The band is expected to play several songs during their appearance.
Fans who pre-order the upcoming Trey Anastasio album "Shine," due Nov. 1, via the ex-Phish leader's website will receive the bonus EP "Live from Chicago."
The bonus disc includes six tracks recorded this August at Chicago's Charter One Pavilion.
Cheap Trick , Gin Blossoms and Spin Doctors are the first acts confirmed to appear at this year's Las Vegas New Year's Eve Street Bash.
Tickets for the event, which takes place at downtown Las Vegas' Fremont Street Experience, are priced a $40, and are on sale now at VegasExperience.com.
Drywall --a side-project of singer/songwriter Stan Ridgway that also features Pietra Wextun (keyboards, vocals), Rick King (guitar, bass, vocals) and various other drop-ins--releases an album titled "Barbeque Babylon: 15 Choice Cuts for your BBQ Party" on Jan. 10.
In a press release, Ridgway, who broke through in the '80s with his band Wall of Voodoo, describes Drywall as "a mad musical project of ours that gets nailed up every once and a while when things of this nature pile up. Our experimental eletro noise combo. I still enjoy messing with sounds. Drywall music attempts to give 'sonic understanding' in a world that too often does not. It's also about saying we're mad as hell and aren't going to take it anymore."
