INXS lines up tour with new frontman
Australian rock band INXS , which last month named a new frontman via the TV talent show "Rock Star: INXS," will embark on a 20-plus city North American theater tour in January.
Tickets for most shows will go on sale to the general public the weekend of Oct. 15, according to a press release. Fan-club pre-sales will kick off earlier that week; details are posted at the INXS website.
"The TV show 'Rock Star: INXS' generated millions of new INXS fans across North America and there is a great deal of excitement to see the band perform live once again," said a statement issued by John Scher, co-CEO of tour promoter Metropolitan Talent Presents. "Years of touring have earned INXS a massive reputation as a great live band. I have no doubt that this will be a memorable tour."
Canadian J.D. Fortune, who recently won against a large field of others vying for INXS's lead singer slot in the reality-TV series "Rock Star: INXS," will be behind the mic on the upcoming dates. Founding INXS frontman Michael Hutchence died of an apparent suicide in 1997.
The new INXS has already issued its first single, "Pretty Vegas," which was penned during the TV series by Fortune with INXS guitarist Tim Farriss. The band has begun work on a new album titled "Switch," with producer Guy Chambers (Robbie Williams) behind the board. The set is scheduled to hit stores Nov. 29.
