Bonnie Raitt extends tour plans into the New Year
Veteran singer Bonnie Raitt --who soon will launch a massive theater tour--has begun rolling out 2006 dates for the outing's second leg.
So far, Raitt has lined up a dozen 2006 concerts that stretch from mid-February through early March. That round of shows will follow a first leg that kicks off Oct. 5 in Tulsa, OK, and runs until mid-December. Details are included in the itinerary below.
Before tackling her tour schedule, Raitt will warm up with a Wednesday (9/28) performance on ABC's "Good Morning America" in New York City, and a Friday (9/30) appearance at VH1's "Classic Decades Rock Live" in Atlantic City, which will also feature Norah Jones, Ben Harper, Keb' Mo' and Alison Krauss. The latter show will be filmed for a television special scheduled to air on VH1 some time in November.
Raitt will also turn up on the Oct. 3 episode of ABC's "The View," according to her website. The site features additional details about Raitt's upcoming television appearances.
Earlier this month, Raitt--a Rock and Roll Hall of Famer and nine-time Grammy winner--offered up her latest album, "Souls Alike." The set, which follows 2002's "Silver Lining," is her 18th album overall, and is the first that she produced herself.
Raitt's backing band for the tour will include bassist Hutch Hutchinson, who has been with Raitt for over 20 years; drummer Ricky Fataar (Beach Boys, The Rutles), who's been playing with her on and off since 1982; guitarist/keyboardist George Marinelli (Bruce Hornsby and the Range), who's been playing with her on and off since 1993; and keyboardist Jon Cleary (Eric Clapton, Taj Mahal), whose New Orleans-based band The Absolute Monster Gentlemen has previously supported Raitt on tour.
