Judas Priest maps more dates for fall tour

More shows have surfaced for Judas Priest 's upcoming run through North America, which will also feature fellow rockers Anthrax.

New to the itinerary--which kicks off Sept. 23 in Michigan--are a number of October stops, most of which are set in the Northeast and on the West Coast. Tickets for most shows are on sale now, while those for three California shows and a Salt Lake City performance are scheduled to hit the box office Saturday (9/17). Details are included below.

In addition to adding shows, the group has also scrapped a previously announced Sept. 24 concert at the Post Gazette Pavilion in the Pittsburgh area.

"Due to some unforeseen scheduling conflicts that have arisen with the venue, we have had to withdraw from the show in Pittsburgh ... and it isn't possible to reschedule at this time as the building won't be open due to bad weather later in the season," reads a message posted at Priest's website. "We are very sorry to those fans we have disappointed. Hopefully we'll be able to make it back to Pittsburgh at some time in the future."

As previously reported, New York-based metalheads Anthrax, in addition to opening for Priest, will also squeeze in some of their own headlining shows. The group is currently scheduled to join Priest on all stops except the Sept. 23 tour opener and three mid-October Canadian shows (Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver), according to Priest's website.

Priest is backing its latest album, "Angel of Retribution," which surfaced in March. The set is the group's first since 1990's "Painkiller" to feature original vocalist Rob Halford, who left the group in the early '90s to pursue a solo career. The group replaced him with Ripper Owens, who was discovered while fronting a Judas Priest tribute band.

Halford returned to the fold to help assemble the band's "Metalogy" box set, and the collaboration led to a full-out reunion that started with a slot on last year's Ozzfest tour.
