Briefly: Michael Jackson, CMA Awards, Depeche Mode
Michael Jackson has announced via a press release that he'll be joined by a long list of artists--including Jay-Z , Mariah Carey, Missy Elliott and R. Kelly--on a new hurricane relief song.
The working title of the Jackson-penned track is "From the Bottom of My Heart," and all proceeds from the sale of the single "will be donated to victims of Hurricane Katrina," according to a press release.
Others who will appear on the single include Wyclef Jean, Lenny Kravitz, Lauryn Hill, Mary J. Blige, Yolanda Adams, Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds, James Brown, Snoop Dogg, The O'Jays and Ciara, and Jackson is "continuing to reach out to artists who would like to work with him on this project."
The initial list of acts scheduled to perform at the Country Music Association's 39th Annual CMA Awards includes reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year Kenny Chesney , as well as Faith Hill , Alan Jackson and George Strait.
The CMA ceremony is set to take place Nov. 15 at New York's Madison Square Garden, and will air live on CBS-TV.
Depeche Mode , Ticketmaster and Apple Computer's iTunes Music Store have teamed for what's being billed as "the first-ever digital download, concert ticket pre-sale," according to a press release.
U.S. fans who visit the iTunes store and pre-order Depeche Mode's new album, "Playing the Angel," between Tuesday (9/13) and Sept. 26 will receive a password for the chance to purchase up to four tickets from Ticketmaster.com for select dates on the band's 2005 North American tour. (Ticketmaster is liveDaily's parent company.)
Fans who pre-order "Playing the Angel" will receive the album via digital download when it's officially released on Oct. 18.
