Jason Mraz pushes headlining tour deep into the fall
Jason Mraz , whose latest roadtrip gets underway Monday night (9/12), has tacked more headlining shows onto an itinerary that also includes a number of dates with The Rolling Stones.
Mraz's schedule now encompasses a stretch of November headlining concerts, including stops in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle. That same month, he'll open shows for the Stones in Las Vegas, Fresno, Salt Lake City, Denver and the Phoenix area.
The outing kicks off in Mraz's hometown of San Diego, and dates are scheduled through late November. Details are included below.
A previously announced Sept. 23 concert in New Orleans has been scrapped due to the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
Mraz is backing his July release, "Mr. A-Z," which debuted at No. 5 on The Billboard 200 chart, thanks in part to its hit single, "Wordplay." He recorded the set with producer Steve Lillywhite (U2, The Rolling Stones) at Allaire Studios near Woodstock, NY, as well as at his home studio in San Diego.
Though "Mr. A-Z" has only been in stores for a couple of months, Mraz is already looking ahead to his next album.
"It’s been a year since I wrote and recorded 'Mr. A-Z,' so it's only natural that I'm already thinking of the next one," Mraz wrote in a journal entry at his website. "I require a great amount of meditation to have to hit the road performing those songs [from 'Mr. A-Z'] since to me it's so last year. To make up for this living in the past I have to be creating for the present to satisfy my soul, thus making the future a place I look forward to going."
