Relient K links with MxPx for fall tour

Christian pop-punkers Relient K and MxPx have teamed up for a co-headlining fall tour that visits theaters throughout the U.S.

The two groups are currently scheduled to kick things off with an Oct. 8 show in King's Island, OH, and dates--which include a lone Canadian stop--are confirmed through mid-November. Details are shown below, and more dates are expected soon.

Relient K's breakthrough album, last year's "Mmhmm," was recently certified gold by the RIAA for U.S. sales in excess of 500,000 copies. Also gold-certified is the group's 2003 set, "Two Lefts Don't Make a Right ... But Three Do," which was nominated for a Grammy award in the Best Rock Gospel Album category.

Formed in 1998, Relient K--vocalist Matthew Thiessen; guitarist Matthew Hoopes, drummer Dave Douglas, bassist John Schnek, and guitarist John Warne--plays an average of 200 gigs per year, according to its publicist. The Canton, OH-based group spent the summer on the road with the Warped Tour after spending the spring with Good Charlotte and Simple Plan.

In June, MxPx--vocalist/bassist Mike Herrera, guitarist Tom Wisniewski and drummer Yuri Ruley--released "Panic," its first new studio set since 2003's "Before Everything and After." The group recorded the new album in its Bremerton, WA, home studio with producer Gavin MacKillop (Sugarcult, Goo Goo Dolls, P.I.L., Toad the Wet Sprocket).

"Our goal [with 'Panic'] was to be aware of our surroundings, to break out of the bubble and check out what the rest of the world was up to," Herrera said in a statement. "I tried to use my personal experiences and those around me, including politics and the media that I see every day."

"Panic" features the single "Heard That Sound," as well as the cuts "This Weekend" and "Kicking and Screaming."
