Spoon dishes up fall tour dates
Austin, TX-based Spoon is launching a fall tour in support of its latest album, "Gimme Fiction," which was released in May.
The run includes three one-off dates in August and September, including a Sept. 5 stop in Los Angeles for Arthurfest, an event that also includes performances by Sonic Youth, Sleater-Kinney, Yoko Ono and Cat Power.
The meat of the schedule begins Oct. 27 in Louisville, KY, and so far continues through Nov. 19. Recently resurrected indie-rockers American Music Club open Nov. 5-18.
Spoon is the brainchild of vocalist/guitarist Britt Daniel and drummer Jim Eno. Since founding the group in 1994, the duo has worked with a succession of bass players and keyboardists. It released its first album, the minimalist art-punk set "A Series of Sneaks," in 1998, and followed that up in 2000 with "Girls Can Tell." Spoon broke through commercially with 2002's "Kill the Moonlight."
Recorded in Austin, "Gimme Fiction" was produced by Mike McCarthy, who also turned the knobs for ...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead.
