Judas Priest, Anthrax team for fall tour

Fellow metalheads Judas Priest and Anthrax --both of whom are in the midst of reunion tours with their original lead singers--will link up for most of Priest's upcoming North American concerts.

The fall leg of Priest's outing kicks off Sept. 23 and is scheduled to wrap up in late October. Anthrax will be on board from Sept. 24 through Oct. 18, according to the group's publicist. Details are included in the itinerary below.

Priest is backing its latest album, "Angel of Retribution," which surfaced in March. The set is the group's first since 1990's "Painkiller" to feature original vocalist Rob Halford, who left the group in the early '90s to pursue a solo career. The group replaced him with Ripper Owens, who was discovered while fronting a Judas Priest tribute band.

Halford returned to the fold to help assemble the band's "Metalogy" box set, and the collaboration led to a full-out reunion that started with a slot on last year's Ozzfest tour.

Anthrax is gearing up for the Sept. 20 release of "Anthrology: No Hit Wonders (1985-1991)," a two-CD collection of remastered, previously released material; and "Anthrology: No Hit Wonders (1985-1991) The Videos," a DVD that will house live footage as well as nine of the group's music videos, including "Bring Tha Noize" featuring Public Enemy.

Earlier this year, Anthrax members Joey Belladonna (vocals), Frankie Bello (guitar), Charlie Benante (drums), Scott Ian (bass) and Danny Spitz (guitar) reunited for their first performances together since 1992. The quintet's first meeting in over 10 years is captured on a forthcoming DVD titled "Alive 2," which will also feature rehearsals and behind-the-scenes footage, as well as performances of 13 songs recorded this year during the band's reunion outing.

An audio-CD version of "Alive 2" is also planned. Both discs are scheduled for release on Sept. 20.

Anthrax's roadwork with Judas Priest will follow its current stint on Megadeth's Gigantour.
