Briefly: Tom Petty, Hilary Duff, Brad Paisley, Story of the Year
Four Tom Petty songs, including the new compositions "Jack" and "Square One," will be featured in writer/director Cameron Crowe's upcoming film, "Elizabethtown."
The film--which stars Orlando Bloom, Kirsten Dunst and Susan Sarandon, and is set for release Oct. 14--also spotlight's the Grammy-nominated Petty song "Learning to Fly," from 1991's "Into the Great Wide Open."
The track "It'll All Work Out" (from 1987's "Let Me Up (I've Had Enough)") will recur throughout the film, both as an instrumental and with vocals, according to Petty's publicist.
Hilary Duff 's best-of collection "Most Wanted"--which comes after just two studio albums from the young pop singer/actress--debuts atop the latest Billboard 200 album chart, with about 208,000 copies sold.
Country act Brad Paisley , in the debut week for his new set "Time Well Wasted," claims the No. 2 slot, with about 193,000 copies sold, according to Billboard.
Mariah Carey 's "The Emancipation of Mimi" climbs one rung to No. 3, while the hits compilation "Now! That's What I Call Music, Vol. 19" falls two slots to No. 4. 311's "Don't Tread on Me" bows at No. 5.
Rockers Story of the Year will drop their sophomore album, "In the Wake of Determination," Oct. 11, according to the band's label.
The set was produced by Steve Evetts (The Cure, Hatebreed).
"Live, we always played heavier than our first record actually sounded," frontman Dan Marsala said in a press release, "so we wanted to try and capture our live sound on this record. We knew exactly what we wanted to do and how we wanted to come across. We were just really determined, so it seemed as if the title worked really well. That was our mindset the entire time."
