Dwight Yoakam [ tickets ] has again extended the itinerary of his in-progress tour behind his recently released album, "Blame the Vain."

The country singer's schedule now includes a new batch of dates that will keep him on the road at least until the end of October. Details are shown below.

Released in June, "Blame the Vain" features the cut "Intentional Heartache," the music video for which Yoakam directed. The clip is streaming at his website, as are audio samples of additional "Blame the Vain" cuts.

The new album is Yoakam's first for indie label New West, and marks the first time that he self-produced an album without the aid of a co-producer. His other duties also included playing all of the acoustic rhythm-guitar parts on the set.

Many of the songs on "Blame the Vain" got their start as ideas Yoakam committed to a tape recorder that he always keeps nearby.

"I'll just walk down the hallway thinking about music, humming and hearing things," he said in a press release. "So, I keep these cassettes everywhere--two or three different places in the house, at my office, in my road bag if I’m on a movie. I just pull out the guitar when I have an idea."

Backing Yoakam on "Blame the Vain" is guitarist Keith Gattis, drummer Mitch Marine, bassist Taras Prodaniuk, keyboardist/pedal-steel guitarist Skip Edwards and harmony singers Dave Roe, Jonathan Clark and Timothy B. Schmitt.

In addition to his musical pursuits, Yoakam--who splits his time between music and acting--has starring roles in two films scheduled for release in the coming months: "Bandidas," with Penelope Cruz and Salma Hayek; and "The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada," directed by and starring Tommy Lee Jones. He also has a cameo in this summer's hit comedy "The Wedding Crashers."
