Bebe tops Latin Grammy nominees with five nods
Spanish singer/songwriter Bebe tops this year's pack of Latin Grammy nominees with five nominations, besting the likes of Marc Anthony , Obie Bermudez, Juanes and Aleks Syntek , each of whom picked up three nominations.
Bebe's take includes Record of the Year and Song of the Year for "Malo," Album of the Year and Best Female Pop Vocal Album for "Pafuera Telaranas," and Best New Artist.
Anthony picked up nods for Best Male Pop Vocal Album ("Amar Sin Mentiras"), Best Salsa Album ("Valio La Pena") and Best Tropical Song ("Valio La Pena"). Bermudez is up for Album of the Year and Best Male Pop Vocal Album for "Todo El Ano" and Song of the Year for the album's title track.
Juanes is vying for Best Rock Solo Vocal Album ("Mi Sangre"), Best Rock Song ("Nada Valgo Sin Tu Amor") and Best Music Video ("Volverte A Ver"). Aleks Syntek, meanwhile, is nominated for Record of the Year and Song of the Year for "Duele El Amor," as well as Best Music Video for "A Veces Fui."
Nominations were announced Tuesday (8/23) in 43 categories; a complete list of nominees is posted at Grammy.com. All nominations are for works released between April 1, 2004 and March 31, 2005, according to the Latin Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences.
The 6th Annual Latin Grammy Awards ceremony is scheduled to take place Nov. 3 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, and will air live on the Univision Network, according to a press release.
