Eminem checks into drug rehab
Rapper Eminem , who earlier this week called off the European leg of the Anger Management 3 tour with 50 Cent, has entered a hospital for an addiction to sleep medication, according to a statement issued Thursday (8/18) by his record company.
Eminem is currently under the care of doctors, the statement said. No other information was released.
On Tuesday, Interscope Records announced that Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Mathers, canceled the Sept. 1-17 European tour due to "exhaustion, complicated by other medical issues."
Eminem checked into the hospital just days after the end of the U.S. leg of the Anger Management trek.
Eminem's Anger Management tourmate 50 Cent later announced that he would embark on his own European tour, sans Eminem. Details about that trek are still in the works.
Last month, Eminem made headlines when his hometown newspaper the Detroit Free Press claimed that he was considering ending his solo career. The rapper subsequently denied the report, but said that he was planning to take a break in order to produce other artists.
