Briefly: Santana, Eminem, Tori Amos, Duran Duran

Santana had been scheduled to perform an Oct. 5 gig in Laredo, TX, but promoters have canceled the show, citing as a factor the violence across the border in Mexico.

"The Laredo market has slowed considerably over the past several months and we believe that the increased violence along the border has become a deterrent for our customers in the region, a large portion of which travel from Mexico, and communities outside the city of Laredo where violence is most prevalent," promoter Pace Concerts said in a statement.

In recent months, 108 people--including police chiefs and other high-ranking public officials--have been killed in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico, in a turf war between rival drug cartels in the country.
