Anthrax signs on for new Gigantour dates
Anthrax will take over on those dates for Dream Theater, which is currently co-headlining the outing with Megadeth. The tour also features Fear Factory, Dillinger Escape Plan and Nevermore on the main stage, and Life of Agony, Symphony X, Dry Kill Logic and Bobaflex on the second stage.
Regular tickets are priced at "approximately $35 each," according to a press release; fans can also purchase premium tickets via the tour's website.
Earlier this year, Anthrax members Joey Belladonna (vocals), Frankie Bello (guitar), Charlie Benante (drums), Scott Ian (bass) and Danny Spitz (guitar) reunited for their first performances together since 1992.
Anthrax booted Belladonna in 1992 and replaced him with singer John Bush. Spitz left the group 10 years ago and became a watchmaker. Bello bailed out last year to join Helmet.
Bush reportedly was asked to participate in the group's reunion tour, but declined in order to spend time with his family.
"This Anthrax reunion is not about Me, Scott, Frank, Joey, Danny, Bush or Rob--it is about two things: the fans and the music," Benante wrote in a recent entry posted at the band's blog. "... I am not one for nostalgia but I do cave in from time to time on certain things--KISS! Need I say more? So basically what I'm trying to say is enjoy it! You may never see this again."
Ian and Benante have indicated in various interviews that the group will likely work with Bush in the future.
