My Chemical Romance unveils first headlining dates
With the end of their stint on this summer's Warped Tour now just a week away, rockers My Chemical Romance are setting their sights on their first headlining tour, details for which have begun to surface.
Following the Warped Tour's Aug. 15 finale, the group will have a month to rest up and get ready for the Sept. 15 launch of its own trek. So far, 20 dates are confirmed through mid-October; details are included below.
Tickets for most shows are on sale now, and more dates are forthcoming, as the tour is expected to make stops in a total of 28 cities, according to organizers. Alkaline Trio and Reggie & the Full Effect will open.
"The transition from support act to headliner is an exciting change, as this will be the first time fans get to spend a proper night with us," My Chemical Romance singer Gerard Way said in a statement. "Our set will be longer with fans hearing songs they've never seen live before and experience production, which we've never had. We can't wait!"
The tour supports My Chemical Romance's sophomore set, "Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge." Released in June of 2004, the album debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Heatseekers Chart.
"Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge" includes the cut "Helena," the music video for which recently earned My Chemical Romance nominations for this year's MTV Video Music Awards in the Best Rock Video, Best New Artist in a Video, MTV2 Award and Best Choreography in a Video categories. The ceremony is scheduled to air on Aug. 28.
Alkaline Trio is backing its latest release, "Crimson," which surfaced in May, while Reggie & the Full Effect are supporting "Songs Not to Get Married To," which hit stores in March.
