Indie rockers Sleater-Kinney [ tickets ] are set to take to the road in support of their latest studio release, "The Woods," with a slate of fall shows across the U.S. and Canada.

The Portland, OR-based trio will back Pearl Jam for a large chunk of its current itinerary, starting with a Sept. 11 opening slot in Kitchener, Ontario, before moving up the marquee to the headliner position for a series of shows in October.

Sleater-Kinney's schedule also includes a Saturday (8/6) appearance in George, WA, supporting The White Stripes on their current tour, and a Sept. 4 shift at Arthurfest in Los Angeles.

"The Woods," which hit stores in May, is Sleater-Kinney's seventh full-length release, and first on the Sub Pop label after a lengthy stay with Kill Rock Stars. Produced by Dave Friedmann--known for his work with Flaming Lips, Mercury Rev and Low--"The Woods" represents a change of musical direction for the band.

"I think we all worked on our musicianship on this record, collaborating to create a new sound for ourselves," singer/guitarist Corin Tucker said in a recent interview in Chord Magazine. "We spent many, many months rehearsing and jamming, and did more rewriting on this album than on any other."

The fall outing is set to wrap up with an Oct. 14 concert in Englewood, CO.
