Lonestar saddles up for more shows as new album nears
Country quartet Lonestar will pass the time leading up to the mid-September release of its new album by tackling a late-summer tour, and will back the new set with a fall outing.
The current leg of the in-progress trek runs until Sept. 7, after which the band takes a break from the road in preparation for the Sept. 13 release of the new studio set "Coming Home." A handful of post-release shows are also lined up, and more dates are expected. Details are included below.
"Coming Home," the follow-up to last year's "Let's Be Us Again," features the single "You're Like Comin' Home." The song's music video is scheduled to premiere Thursday (8/4) on CMT, according to Lonestar's website.
Last month, Lonestar shot the "You're Like Comin' Home" video near Austin, TX, in 98-degree heat. The band was "literally tethered to the back of a flatbed truck and were playing and singing as they rolled along the highway," according to the group's website. Initially, a miniature, remote-controlled chopper camera was used to get some aerial shots, but was grounded after it veered too close to lead singer Richie McDonald's head. A cameraman tethered to the exterior of a full-size helicopter was brought in for the rest of the shoot.
"I felt like Tom Cruise in the 'Mission Impossible' films while shooting this video," McDonald said in a statement. "It was an amazing experience and a real first for all of us on a video set to be on a moving truck with a helicopter flying right overhead."
