Iron & Wine [ tickets ] and Calexico [ tickets ] have announced dates for the West Coast swing of a collaborative tour, beginning Oct. 15 in Tucson, AZ. East Coast dates are expected to follow, but have not yet been announced.

The joint tour follows the expected Sept. 20 release of "In the Reins," an EP featuring Iron & Wine singer (and sole member) Sam Beam backed by Calexico, performing seven previously unreleased tracks.

The EP was recorded in December 2004 in Calexico's hometown of Tucson, with help from several guest performers, including singer/guitarist Salvador Duran, and Nick Luca and Craig Schumacher, co-owners of Wavelab Studios, where the set was recorded.

Iron & Wine's last album was 2004's "Our Endless Numbered Days," recorded with an expanded lineup featuring Beam's friends and family members. Calexico's most recent studio release was February 2003's "Feast of Wire."

Calexico recently wrapped up a run of European festival dates. The band's next studio album is due next spring on the Touch & Go label.
