Indigo Girls keep up steady tour schedule
Indigo Girls will end another typically brief respite from the tour trail with a series of late-summer/early fall shows.
The duo--Amy Ray and Emily Saliers--have lined up a string of September shows, including a three-night stand in Chicago. The pair's itinerary also includes an Aug. 12 performance at the annual Michigan Womyn's Music Festival and an Oct. 29 concert in San Diego that will help launch a week-long Olivia Cruise to the Mexican Riviera.
The roadwork follows the June release of "Rarities," which comprises previously unreleased material, as well as contributions to soundtracks, tribute albums and benefit albums, culled from throughout the duo's nearly two-decade career.
The latest album of new Indigo Girls material was last year's "All That We Let In," which features Ray and Saliers backed by their longtime band: bassist Clare Kenny, keyboardist Carol Isaacs and drummer Brady Blade. Also featured on the set is singer/pianist Joan Osborne, who contributes back-up vocals to three tracks.
In April, Ray issued her second solo album, "Prom." She and her band plan to tour behind the set this fall; a lone Sept. 22 show at Chicago's Bottom Lounge is confirmed, and more dates will follow, according to Ray's website.
