Dolly Parton rolls out dates, readies new album
A new album from Dolly Parton is due out this fall, but the veteran country diva isn't waiting for its release to head out on tour.
Parton has begun lining up dates for a North American outing that kicks off in mid-August. Most confirmed dates are set for August, but subsequent shows are scattered into December. Details are included below.
Included in the itinerary is a Sept. 24-25 engagement at Dollywood, Parton's theme park in Pigeon Forge, TN, where she's scheduled to play two shows each day. The performances are billed as benefits, proceeds from which will be directed to the Dollywood Foundation's Imagination Library Program, according to the Dollywood website.
Parton is gearing up for the October release of her next album, "Those Were the Days." The set reportedly features guest appearances from Keith Urban, Sarah McLachlan, Joe Nichols, Sean Lennon, Norah Jones, Joni Mitchell, Judy Collins, Pam Tillis and Tommy James. A specific release date has not been announced.
Meanwhile, Parton has been making some guest appearances of her own as of late; the singer turns up on Brad Paisley's Aug. 16 release, "Time Well Wasted," and George Jones' Sept. 13 release, "Hits I Missed ... and One I didn't."
