Collective Soul extends tour through the summer

Collective Soul continues to pound the pavement behind last year's "Youth" and its recently released acoustic EP, "From the Ground Up."

The band's current tour now stretches into September, and also includes a late-October date in Las Vegas. Details are included below.

Last November, Collective Soul issued "Youth," its first new studio set since 2000's "Blender." The new album features the cuts "Counting the Days" and "Better Now," the music video for which is streaming at the band's website.

Also posted at the band's site is streaming audio of frontman Ed Roland's recent appearance on "The Howard Stern Show," during which Roland told Stern that the band spent $500,000 to record "Youth" and release it independently via its own label, El Music Group. Roland said that the album has sold more than 200,000 copies in the U.S.

In May, Roland and company issued their second El Music Group release, "From the Ground Up," an eight-song collection that features acoustic renditions of seven of the group's previously released numbers, as well as a new acoustic track titled "Youth," which did not appear on the album of the same title.

Formed in 1994, Collective Soul made a name for itself with the chart-topping hits "December," "Shine," "The World I Know," "Gel," "Blame" and "Precious Declaration."
