Briefly: Ruben Studdard, Sheryl Crow, Bo Bice, Ozomatli
Ruben Studdard , winner of 2004's "American Idol" on Fox-TV, has filed a lawsuit in Birmingham, AL, accusing his former manager of identity theft and forgery.
The suit reportedly claims that Ronald W. Edwards forged paperwork that gave him power of attorney for Studdard, then charged $105,000 to credit cards and wrote checks for $150,000 in Studdard's name. Edwards is also accused of writing $22,000 worth of checks and depositing them into his own account.
Studdard sued Edwards and his marketing company in February, alleging that he misused $246,000, according to published reports.
Edwards denied the earlier allegations, and that suit was stayed earlier this month when he filed a petition for Chapter 7 bankruptcy.
Sheryl Crow will not perform as scheduled at Saturday's Live 8 concert in Paris.
"Due to substantial logistical and personal challenges Sheryl will be unable to appear at the Paris Live 8 event July 2," said a statement posted on her website.
Bo Bice , this year's "American Idol" runner-up, has wed his girlfriend of two years, Caroline Fisher. The couple exchanged vows at a Helena, AL, church, according to People magazine.
Meanwhile, Bice's single "Inside Your Heaven" tops the new Billboard Hot Singles Sales chart, replacing "Idol" winner Carrie Underwood 's rendition of the same song.
Ozomatli will drop the CD/DVD combo "Live at the Fillmore"--the first live release of the band's decade-long career--on Aug. 23. The group recorded the set at the historic San Francisco venue in late 2004.
