Brad Paisley readies new album, hits the road

Brad Paisley 's fourth album is due out in August, but the country singer isn't waiting for the set to hit stores before he heads out on tour.

Plans call for Paisley to spend much of the summer playing the fair circuit, and shows are scheduled from early July through the end of September. Details are included below.

In the midst of his roadwork, Paisley will offer up a new album titled "Time Well Wasted." Scheduled for release on Aug. 16, the set features Paisley's latest single, "Alcohol," which is streaming at his website.

Paisley recorded the album in Nashville with producer Frank Rogers. Dolly Parton makes a guest appearance on the set, according to Arista Nashville.

"I've tried my best to revisit the things that people expect from me, like including a gospel song and doing instrumentals and also humor on occasion," Paisley said about the album in a statement. "But I've also recorded some things that will hopefully take listeners to a different place."

"Time Well Wasted" follows 2003's "Mud on the Tires," which features "Whiskey Lullaby," Paisley's hit duet with Allison Krauss. Earlier this year, the song earned the pair wins in the Vocal Event of the Year and Video of the Year categories at the Academy of Country Music Awards, and the Collaborative Video of the Year category at the CMT Music Awards.

Paisley burst onto the country-music scene with his 1999 debut, "Who Needs Pictures." The album spawned the hit singles "Me Neither," "He Didn't Have to Be," "We Danced" and the title track, and garnered the singer a slew of awards. His sophomore effort, "Part II," surfaced in 2001.
