Rapper/producer Kanye West [ tickets ] walked away with a pair of BET Awards on Tuesday (6/28) night, and was the only artist with multiple wins at the cable network's annual ceremony.

West took the statuettes for top male hip-hop artist, and won top video for "Jesus Walks."

Ciara [ tickets ], who was nominated in a field-leading four categories, took just one award, for best collaboration ("1, 2 Step," featuring Missy Elliott).

The BET Awards have a tradition of surprise openings, and this year was no exception, with The Fugees [ tickets ]' Lauryn Hill, Wyclef Jean and Pras Michael making their first televised performance together in many years. The trio played a 10-minute-plus medley of its hits.

Gladys Knight [ tickets ] was presented with a special Lifetime Achievement Award, and also performed. Other performers included Stevie Wonder [ tickets ] (with John Legend), Mariah Carey, Destiny's Child, T.I., Mike Jones and Ciara.
