Journey adds fall shows to anniversary tour

June 23, 2005 02:59 PM
Veteran rockers Journey , who launch their 30th anniversary tour this weekend, have extended their lengthy itinerary into the fall.

New September and October additions to the schedule will keep the group on the road almost non-stop from the time the tour kicks off Sunday (6/26) in Irvine, CA, until at least early October. Details are shown below.

Fans attending the upcoming shows can expect to hear songs from throughout the group's history, including new material that the band recently recorded for a soon-to-be-released studio album titled "Generations."

Though a retail release date for "Generations" has not been announced, the group plans to give a copy of the album to every ticket-holder at "the majority of concerts this summer," according to the band's website.

Each tour stop will feature an attraction dubbed "Journeyville," which is described in a press release as "a festive area located near the front entrance at most of the venues" that will house "continuous video playback on large outdoor screens showing various moments throughout Journey's history, such as classic music videos, behind-the-scenes clips and much more."

Also on display will be a 30th anniversary Journey motorcycle created and built by Arlen Ness Motorcycles and featuring artwork from all of Journey's albums; fans will have a chance to win the bike by making a contribution to a children's charity.

Journey's lineup features original members Neal Schon (guitar) and Ross Valory (bass), longtime members Deen Castronovo (drums) and Jonathan Cain (keyboards), and singer Steve Augieri, who took over for Steve Perry in the late '90s.
