Bonnie Raitt readies new album, fall tour
Bonnie Raitt is gearing up for the late-summer release of her first new studio set in three years, and has unveiled plans for a supporting tour that will keep her on the road for much of the fall.
The outing, which is booked into theater-sized venues throughout the U.S., launches in early October, and is currently scheduled to wrap up just before Thanksgiving. Details are included below.
Meanwhile, a Sept. 13 release date is set for "Souls Alike," Raitt's first collection of new material since 2002's "Silver Lining."
"This record was a matter of stretching and not repeating myself," Raitt said in a statement. "Some of the songs are clearly terrain that people have come to know and appreciate from me, but the rest are about finding some new direction and something new to say."
Though the album is Raitt's 18th, it is the first to bear the credit "Produced by Bonnie Raitt," according to a press release. The 11 tracks housed on the set were penned by "lesser-known writers with whom Raitt feels a deep affinity and whose work she wants to champion."
"I Will Not Be Broken," the new album's first single, is scheduled to hit radio stations in August.
Raitt was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002.
