Dave Matthews Band plots return to Red Rocks
UPDATED June 25, 2005 3:48 PM - Dave Matthews Band 's summer tour schedule now includes a three-night stand at Colorado's Red Rocks Amphitheatre, marking the group's return to the venue after a seven-year hiatus.
The shows are set for Sept. 9-11, and currently mark the end of the group's summer tour, which kicked off earlier this month. Tickets to the Denver-area show will go on sale to the general public July 9, but members of the group's official fan club, the Warehouse, will have access to tickets starting Thursday (6/23), according to a band announcement. More information is available at the band's website.
An opening act has not yet been named for the Red Rocks shows.
Dave Matthews Band first headlined Red Rocks in August of 1995. That concert was immortalized on "Live at Red Rocks," a two-disc set released in 1997. The group last played the venue in May of 1998.
As previously reported, DMB's summer plans also include a July 2 performance at the Philadelphia Music of Art, the site of one of several Live 8 concerts set to take place around the globe that day. The group plans to sandwich its Live 8 appearance between evening shows in upstate New York on July 2 and 3.
Last month, Dave Matthews Band issued its latest album, "Stand Up." The set sold about 465,000 copies during its first week out, securing it a No. 1 debut on The Billboard 200 album chart.
