More Springsteen solo shows set for July, August
Bruce Springsteen has lined up a new round of North American solo dates that will get underway this summer, following up on his sold-out spring run through the U.S.
The veteran rocker, who is currently on the road in Europe, launches his summer tour July 13 in Ottawa. Seventeen shows are so far on the books, and additional dates will be announced, according to a press release. Ticket on-sale information wasn't available at press time.
Springsteen--who is touring solo for the first time since the 1995-96 "The Ghost of Tom Joad" tour--is backing his latest release, "Devils & Dust," which debuted atop The Billboard 200 album chart earlier this year.
According to his publicist, the album also debuted at No. 1 in nine European countries, and topped the pan-European charts for three weeks.
"Devils & Dust," Springsteen's follow up to 2002's "The Rising," contains a dozen newly recorded tracks produced by Brendan O'Brien, who also turned the knobs on Springsteen's 2002 album, "The Rising." Springsteen recorded the new set at Thrill Hill Recording Studios in Los Angeles and New Jersey; additional engineering took place at Southern Tracks Recording in Atlanta.
In the U.S., "Devils & Dust" was released in the DualDisc format; one side of the disc features a standard audio version, and the other features both a film directed by Danny Clinch and a 5.1 surround-sound mix of the entire album.
