Destiny's Child pumps up schedule for farewell tour

Destiny's Child , which last month announced initial plans for the North American leg of its final tour, has added a slew of new stops to the run.

Dubbed "Destiny Fulfilled ... and Lovin' It," the outing kicks off July 9 in St. Louis, and is now scheduled to touch down in 35 cities by mid-September. An appearance at the July 2 Essence Music Festival in New Orleans is also planned. Details are included below.

Tickets for a number of shows are on sale now, and members of the group's fan club have access to online pre-sales for most dates. More information is posted at the club's website.

The tour--which is Destiny's Child's first full-length run through North America in four years--will feature a rotating roster of support acts that will include Amerie, Mario and Tyra on "select dates," according to Columbia Records.

Tina Knowles, mother of Destiny's Child member Beyonce Knowles, designed the trio's costumes for the tour; House of Dereon, a clothing label that the mother/daughter duo co-founded last year, will supply the garments.

The tour supports last November's "Destiny Fulfilled," the follow-up to 2001's "Survivor." The new album--which sold almost 500,000 copies during its first week in stores and debuted at No. 2 on The Billboard 200 album chart--includes songs co-written by all three of Destiny's Child's members: Knowles, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams. Knowles, however, was "the key producer of all the album's tracks and the record's musical concepts and vocal arrangements are the result of her artistic vision," according to a press release.

"Destiny Fulfilled" features the cuts "Cater 2 U" and "Girl," music videos for both of which are streaming at the group's website.

A third track from the album, "Soldier"--which also features Lil Wayne--was recently nominated for a BET award for Best Collaboration. Destiny's Child also picked up nods in the Best Group and Viewer's Choice Award categories. The awards ceremony is scheduled to air June 28.

Destiny's Child has sold more than 40 million records worldwide, and solo recordings by Knowles, Rowland and Williams have collectively sold 10 million copies, according to Columbia Records.
