Hootie & The Blowfish pile on tour dates, finish new album
Hootie & The Blowfish, who later this summer will deliver a new studio album, continue to roll out dates for their summer tour.
The group has added a number of new July, August and September stops to the run, and have also signed on for an appearance at the June 19 Summerthing festival in San Francisco.
In addition to penciling in new dates, the South Carolina-based group has moved a previously announced Aug. 10 show in its home state to Aug. 17.
The itinerary is included below.
On Aug. 9, Hootie & The Blowfish will issue "Looking for Lucky," their fifth studio album. The set will surface on the band's new indie label, Sneaky Long Records, an imprint of Vanguard Records, with whom the band recently signed after parting with Atlantic.
The album's cover art is posted at the band's website. Guitarist Mark Bryan, in a recent posting at the site, said that the group whittled 50 song ideas down to a 12-song tracklist, spent 17 days recording the set, and finished mixing the collection in mid-May.
The group recorded "Looking for Lucky" in Nashville with producer Don Gehman, who also produced the band's 1994 debut, "Cracked Rear View." That album--which features the hit singles "Hold My Hand," "Let Her Cry" and "Only Wanna Be with You"--remains the band's most successful release to date; the set is multi-platinum certified for shipping 16 million copies in the U.S.
