Journey adds more shows to anniversary tour
Among the new dates is a July 6 performance at Milwaukee's Summerfest; August stops in Las Vegas, Lake Tahoe and Boston; and September shows in Atlanta, Tampa and Puerto Rico. Details are shown below.
A previously announced June 26 kick-off in California remains intact, and the run is expected to wrap up in October, according to organizers.
At each tour stop, fans will be able to check out "Journeyville," described in a press release as "a festive area located near the front entrance at most of the venues" that will feature "continuous video playback on large outdoor screens showing various moments throughout Journey's history such as classic music videos, behind-the-scenes clips and much more. Also on display will be a 30th anniversary Journey motorcycle created and built by Arlen Ness Motorcycles and featuring artwork from all of Journey's albums; fans will have a chance to win the bike by making a contribution to "Journey's favorite children's charities."
Journey's lineup features original members Neal Schon (guitar) and Ross Valory (bass), longtime members Deen Castronovo (drums) and Jonathan Cain (keyboards), and singer Steve Augieri, who took over for Steve Perry in the late '90s.
The band is best known for its string of late-'70s and early '80s hits, such as "Don't Stop Believin'," "Wheel in the Sky," "Any Way You Want It" and "Open Arms," all of which feature Perry, who left the group following the release of 1996's "Trial by Fire."
Augieri was first featured on the cut "Remember Me," which the group contributed to the 1998 soundtrack for the film "Armageddon."
Fans attending the upcoming shows can expect to hear songs from throughout the group's history, including music the group recently recorded for soon-to-be-released studio album titled "Generations."
"Generations" will be given exclusively to ticketholders for shows on the upcoming tour, and will later be released to retail outlets, according to a press release. A retail release date has not been announced.
